One of the groups that I have responsibility for at the Clovis Chamber of Commerce is our Networking Focus Group. I created it to provide a training forum for our members who were new to networking or who really wanted more in-depth exploration of the topic.
It's turned into a networking MasterMind group. The phrase MasterMind was coined by Napoleon Hill and is defined as the “coordination of knowledge and effort in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose." It's a group of at least two people dedicated to the pursuit of a specific purpose who meet regularly to inform, encourage, and keep each other accountable.
The group is fairly new and when I started it, I knew that I would spend the time studying the subject whether or not anyone else showed up. A core group did, though, and it's really starting to pay off.
We've decided to use as our "text" Jeffrey Gitomer's brand new book "The Little Black Book of Connections." Each time we meet, we'll go over another chapter, having read, studied and put it into practice the weeks before.
I'll bring you updates and insights through this blog, twice a month.
In the meantime, be sure to get your own copy! Better yet, subscribe to Gitomer's newsletter at www.gitomer.com. On September 6, they will have a special one-day offer for purchasing the book and they'll announce it through the newsletter.
